On March 12 of the current year, a delegation from Japan headed by Mr. Kentaro Doi, Vice Minister for Global Environmental Affairs of the Ministry of the Environment of Japan (MOEJ), visited the Uzbek-Japan Innovation Center of Youth at the Tashkent State Technical University named after Islam Karimov.

During the meeting, the members of the delegation were presented with detailed information about the scientific and practical activities of the Center. In particular, information was provided on ongoing international and national projects, short-term and long-term internship programs, as well as educational initiatives implemented in cooperation with leading organizations, industrial enterprises, prestigious universities, and research institutes of Uzbekistan and Japan.

The Japanese delegation showed particular interest in the practical scientific work carried out by young researchers and specialists of the Center using modern laboratory equipment. These activities include research on the purification of industrial wastewater for reuse, comprehensive determination of chemical elements in atmospheric air based on the PM2,5 indicator, hydrogen production from industrial wastewater within the framework of the international project SATREPS-H2Uz implemented in cooperation with Japanese partners, as well as the development of photocatalytic materials derived from industrial waste. In addition, the delegation was introduced to a joint project with the National Committee on Ecology and Climate Change of the Republic of Uzbekistan aimed at determining the composition and concentration of micro- and nanoparticles in atmospheric air. Considerable interest was also shown in a future international project in the field of ecology and environmental protection planned to be implemented in cooperation with Keio University in Japan.

During the visit, the members of the delegation toured the Center’s laboratories and became acquainted with the activities of its researchers and the ongoing scientific studies. An open and constructive discussion was held regarding the development of joint research initiatives. Mr. Kentaro Doi highly appreciated the modern laboratory infrastructure of the Center, its research potential, and the scientific work being carried out. At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties reached preliminary agreements on launching promising joint projects and further strengthening scientific and technological cooperation in the future.
