VISIT OF THE DELEGATION OF THE JAPAN INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION AGENCY (JICA) TO THE UZBEK-JAPAN INNOVATION CENTER OF YOUTH (UJICY)

On June 11 of this year, a delegation headed by Mr. Mamoru Sakai, the newly appointed Chief Representative of the Uzbekistan Office of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), visited the Uzbek-Japan Innovation Center of Youth (UJICY) under Tashkent State Technical University named after Islam Karimov.

At the beginning of the meeting, the management of the Center expressed its sincere gratitude to Mr. Mamoru Sakai for his continued support and assistance in establishing cooperation with leading Japanese universities aimed at further enhancing the Center’s scientific and research activities.

During the meeting, the delegation was provided with an overview of the Center, including information on its operating laboratories, research staff, and young researchers who completed their studies at leading Japanese universities and are currently continuing their scientific activities at the Center. Information was also presented on the achievements and ongoing activities implemented within the framework of JICA-supported international projects, such as the “Technical Cooperation Project Phase II” and “SATREPS-H2Uz,” as well as on the local research projects currently being carried out.

Furthermore, the delegation was informed about international projects planned for implementation in collaboration with leading Japanese universities, as well as joint national grant competitions and the ongoing efforts being undertaken to secure funding and support for these initiatives.

During the visit, the delegation members toured the Center’s laboratories and became acquainted with the state-of-the-art equipment installed therein. Young researchers introduced the scientific work and analytical studies being conducted using these facilities and engaged in discussions with the guests.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Mr. Mamoru Sakai expressed his appreciation for the warm welcome and hospitality extended to him by the Center. He emphasized that the ongoing research activities and projects make a significant contribution to the development of the Center’s scientific capacity and that the experience gained through these initiatives serves as an excellent platform for enhancing the qualifications and professional skills of researchers from local higher education institutions. Mr. Sakai also stated JICA’s readiness to provide comprehensive support and further strengthen cooperation within the scope of its mandate.
