This Innovation Seminar was moderated by Yukinori Yanagida, an expert who is promoting the Hydrogen SATREPS Project at UJICY, and presentations and discussions were held on Japanese technology and experience related to hydrogen production using underground coal gasification technology (H-UCG).
Professor Sugai and Associate Professor Hamanaka, the leaders of the Kyushu University Hydrogen SATREPS Project, gave presentations on technology for converting oil underground into hydrogen and technology for storing carbon dioxide underground.
There was also a report from Mr. Kougou, the representative director of Dainippon Diamond Consultants Co. In the Japanese city of Mikasa, efforts are being made to utilize abundant unused resources and revitalize industry through clean hydrogen production using underground coal gasification and woody biomass, and the coal underground gasification technology (UCG) that is being put to practical use in Uzbekistan is attracting attention. This time, Japanese companies involved in the project visited Uzbekistan to inspect the coal underground gasification technology (UCG).
In the second half of the seminar, there was a lively discussion between the participating PhD students and professors, and UJICY researchers.
