Information about the Uzbek-Japan Innovation Center of Youth
The Uzbek-Japa Innovation Center of Youth was established in accordance with the Memorandum of Cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Government of Japan signed on October 25, 2015, and started its activities in 2016. The Center has four laboratories, including the laboratory of chemistry and petrochemistry, the laboratory of mining and deep mineral processing, the laboratory of energy, renewable energy and energy saving, and the laboratory of mechanical engineering and materials science. UJICY works closely with researchers from universities in Japan, such as Nagoya University, Tsukuba University, Teikyo University, Akita University, Tokyo Institute of Technology, Kyushu University, and Yokohama National University. Between 2016 and 2023, the center's staff wrote more than 350 research papers, some of which were published with Japanese scientists in the world's leading journals.

On June 11 of this year, a delegation headed by Mr. Mamoru Sakai, the newly appointed Chief Representative of the Uzbekistan Office of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), visited the Uzbek-Japan Innovation Center of Youth (UJICY) under Tashkent State Technical University named after Islam Karimov.
On June 3, 2026, a delegation from the City University of Hong Kong, one of the world’s most prestigious higher education institutions, visited the Uzbek-Japan Innovation Center of Youth (UJICY) under the Tashkent State Technical University named after Islam Karimov. This university ranks 63rd in the international Top-1000 universities ranking and is globally recognized for its achievements in science, innovation, and technological research.
On May 18, 2026, a scientific seminar was held at the Uzbek-Japan Innovation Center of Youth (the Center) of the Tashkent State Technical University named after Islam Karimov. The seminar was organized with the participation of Professor Yu. Sugai from Kyushu University as part of the “SATREPS-H2Uz” international project, titled “Creation of Hydrogen Energy in the Republic of Uzbekistan Using Innovative Technologies”, which runs from 2024 to 2029 and is implemented through the “SATREPS” international fund of the Government of Japan.
The Uzbek-Japan Innovation Center of Youth announces a call for applications for a short-term scholarship program for young researchers.
A general meeting was held at the Center to review the implementation of the 2023-2025 collective agreement in 2025 and to approve the new collective agreement for 2026-2028.
On March 12 of the current year, a delegation from Japan headed by Mr. Kentaro Doi, Vice Minister for Global Environmental Affairs of the Ministry of the Environment of Japan (MOEJ), visited the Uzbek-Japan Innovation Center of Youth at the Tashkent State Technical University named after Islam Karimov.
